Privacy Policy for PlateWise

1. Who operates PlateWise?

PlateWise is published by LingoLap, operated by Mohamed Almetwally Hamed Youssef (“LingoLap,” “we,” “us” or “our”). For privacy questions and requests, contact jonypaul066@gmail.com.

2. Information processed

Account information

If you create or use an authenticated account, Firebase Authentication may process an account identifier, email address where applicable, authentication status and related security information. Guest or anonymous authentication may create a technical account identifier without requiring your name.

Profile and wellness information

To calculate personalized targets, the App may process information you enter, such as age or date of birth, gender, height, weight, activity level, goal weight, fitness goal, calorie target and macro targets.

Meal and progress information

The App may process meal names, food descriptions, calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber and other nutrition values; meal history; daily progress; water intake; weight records and selected calendar dates.

Photos and text submitted for analysis

If you use meal scanning or AI chat, you may submit food photos or text descriptions. This content must be transmitted to our cloud function and an AI processing provider to generate the requested estimate. Uploaded images may be stored in cloud storage when required to save your meal history or account experience.

Device, diagnostics and advertising information

Google services may process device type, operating system, app version, IP address, advertising identifier, approximate location derived from network information, crash information, performance data, screen views and ad interactions. The precise information depends on your device settings, consent choices and enabled services.

3. How information is used

• Calculate calorie, nutrition and macro estimates.
• Personalize daily targets and display progress.
• Save meals, water intake, weight and account history.
• Provide AI-powered meal and food analysis.
• Authenticate users and protect the service from abuse.
• Diagnose errors and improve stability and performance.
• Display and measure advertising when advertising is enabled.
• Respond to support, privacy and deletion requests.

4. AI meal analysis

Meal photos and food descriptions submitted to an AI feature may be sent through secure cloud infrastructure to Google Gemini or another configured AI provider. The provider processes the submitted content to return an estimate. Do not submit faces, identity documents, medical records or other unnecessary personal information in food images or prompts.

AI-generated results can be incomplete or inaccurate. PlateWise is intended for general wellness and informational use only, not diagnosis, treatment or clinical nutrition management.

5. Service providers

The current App architecture may use the following Google services:

• Firebase Authentication for account and anonymous authentication.
• Firebase Firestore for account-linked meals and progress records.
• Firebase Storage for uploaded meal images where the feature requires storage.
• Firebase Cloud Functions for protected server-side processing.
• Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics when enabled for usage measurement and diagnostics.
• Google Gemini for AI meal or food analysis.
• Google AdMob for advertising and ad measurement when enabled.

6. Sharing and sale of information

We do not sell your personal information. Information is disclosed only when needed to operate a requested feature, protect the service, comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, or complete a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. Advertising providers may process device and ad interaction data under their own policies and your available consent choices.

7. Storage and retention

Information may be stored locally on your device or in Firebase services linked to your account. Local information may disappear when you clear app data or uninstall the App. Cloud information is retained while needed to provide the service and until it is deleted under the App’s functionality or a valid deletion request, subject to security logs, backups and legal obligations.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or receive a copy of personal information you provided. Device settings may also let you reset the advertising identifier, restrict personalized advertising or deny optional permissions.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including authenticated requests and encrypted network transmission. No electronic storage or internet transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Children’s privacy

PlateWise is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.

11. International processing

Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where applicable, information is transferred using safeguards provided by the service provider and required by relevant data-protection law.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when app features, service providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes may also be communicated in the App where appropriate.
